If you are like me, your four legged friends are very special members of your family, so why not celebrate their birthdays with a delicious birthday cake made especially for them!
This birthday cake recipe is safe for dogs and is guaranteed to make their birthday a doggone special day!
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup peanut butter (use a peanut butter that DOES NOT contain xylitol. Xylitol is a sweetener that can be toxic to dogs)
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup greek yogurt (for frosting)
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (for frosting)
- 1 banana (optional- for decoration)
- small dog treats (optional- for decoration)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Combine the egg, peanut butter, coconut oil and honey in a bowl. Whisk until smooth.
Gradually add in the whole wheat flour and baking soda. Mix until combined.
Add in the shredded carrots and stir to combine.
Grease a 9″ cake pan with coconut oil. Spread the batter into the pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
To make frosting, combine the greek yogurt and peanut butter and stir until smooth.
Frost the cake and decorate with small dog treats and sliced bananas.
Serve a slice (he will want to eat the whole thing!) to your dog and watch his excitement as he celebrates his birthday with you!

Peanut Butter and Carrot Dog Birthday Cake

Let the cake cool completely. Do not frost the cake until is is completely cooled, or the frosting will soak in.

To make the frosting, mix equal amounts of greek yogurt and peanut butter together in a bowl.

Frost the cake and decorate! Small dog treats and sliced bananas make great decorations.
