When I remodeled the bathroom several years ago, one of the best things I did was replace the old tub with a whirlpool tub. Nothing beats relaxing in the whirlpool tub on a cold day or after a workout.
Keeping a whirlpool tub clean takes little more work than a basic tub, but its really pretty easy to do using just a few household ingredients.
How often should you clean your whirlpool tub jets?
That depends on how often it is used. If your whirlpool tub gets used a lot, then I would recommend cleaning the jets once a month. If it doesn’t get a lot of use, then you can probably get away with cleaning the jets once every three months
Step One: Fill your tub with hot water so that the water level covers the jets. Put about 1 cup of vinegar in the water and run the jets for 10-15 minutes. (You could use 1/2 cup bleach instead of the vinegar if you prefer)
Step Two: Completely drain the tub and rinse out any residue that may remain in the tub.
Step Three: Refill the tub with hot water so the water level covers the jets. This time, put in about 2 Tablespoons of low sudsing dishwashing soap. I used basic Dawn dish soap. You don’t want to put in too much dishwashing soap or you will end up with a bubble volcano in your tub! Run the jets for 10-15 minutes.
Step Four: Completely drain the tub and rinse out any residue that may remain in the tub.
Step Five: Refill the tub one last time with clean warm water. Run the jets for 10 minutes. This will flush out any remaining residue, dish soap or vinegar that may be remaining.
After the deep clean of the jets I finish by cleaning the tub with a gentle non abrasive cleaner. Use a toothbrush or dental floss to clean the crevices around the whirlpool jet bases if needed.
Warning: your dog may want to jump in your nice clean tub, it is irresistible!
